SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. – Revere Greist scored his third victory of the season at the SCCA May National at Blackhawk Farms in South Beloit, Illinois.
Greist claimed both poles for the double race weekend, finishing second in race one and leading every lap from pole in race two. Jim Victor joined
Greist on the weekend scoring a fifth place result in a hard fought race one.
Qualifying for both races took place on Friday, with qualifying
one in the morning and qualifying two in the afternoon. Greist asserted himself as the driver to beat taking pole for both races on the 1.9 mile
Blackhawk Farms Circuit. Victor was consistent in both sessions lining up fifth for race one and going one better to fourth for race two.
A
Friday night thunderstorm gave the ArmsUp crew a new racetrack to deal with for Saturday morning’s race one. Both Greist and Victor had great
starts, with Revere taking the lead from pole and Victor jumping up to fourth on the races opening lap. Revere would lead until the last couple of
laps. Fighting an understeer, Greist gave up the lead with two to go and had to settle for second. Victor hung on to fourth as long as he could but
lost the spot in the races later stages to claim a fifth on the day.
Looking to make up for race one, Greist was not to be denied as he put a
stamp on the weekend by leading flag to flag in race two. The Waypoint Health Innovations backed driver led from the pole and never looked back
through the 25 lap affair to claim his third victory of the young season. Victor maintained his fourth place starting position in the opening laps of
race two. Unfortunately a broken right front brake caliper seal would end the Smith Barney backed drivers day early as Victor brought the car in
rather than damage it further.
“Overall it was another great weekend for us,” ArmsUp Motorsports owner Gregg Borland commented.
“Revere drove as hard as he could all weekend. Had we not gotten a little too aggressive with the setup after Friday night’s thunderstorm
we could have won both races. Jim did another great job in the car and could have had two top-fives if it weren’t for the caliper seal. I am
really happy with the job are crew did and we are looking forward to being back at Road America for the Cat National later this
month.”
After a short break the ArmsUp Motorsports team will make its first appearance at its home track of Road America this season for
the Cat National. Expect a full fleet of cars on hand from the ArmsUp squad for the May 22-23 race weekend.
