The ArmsUp SCCA Club squad has seen a busy couple weeks with the team in action at Motorsports Park Hastings (MPH) in Hastings Nebraska two weeks ago
and back to Road America this past weekend. Jerry Szykulski was the lone entrant for ArmsUp in the Formula Continental division in Nebraska and he
proceeded to make mincemeat of the track record at MPH. Within the first ten laps on track the Minnesota driver was below the track record and ended
the weekend by resetting the track record by over four seconds below the previous mark. In the process Szykulski picked up two more poles and two
more race wins as he continues to dominate the SCCA Formula Continental National class. One week later John Dickmann continued his string of strong
runs scoring a win and a second place finish at Road America in the SCCA Double Regional event.
Szykulski on the strength of seven straight
wins in SCCA National Competition has now clinched the SCCA National Points Crown along with the SCCA Central Division points championship headed in
the SCCA National Championship Runoff's. If Szykulski, who was runner-up last year to ArmsUp Driver Revere Greist, wins the Runoffs he will complete
the Super Sweep by winning the National points title, Division points title, Super Tour Event win (Jerry won the High Plaines FC Event) and Runoff's
Gold.
"Hastings was a really fun track to go to, definitely an interesting circuit," Szykulski commented after the event. "I actually think
we had a little more in the car and myself, so I know we can go quicker there, but I am still very happy to come home with the new track record. Now
I am looking forward to the Runoff's to see if we can't keep up the pace we have had all season."
After the team arrived home from Hastings
it was straight back to Road America one week later for the Chicago Region SCCA Kettle Moraine Double Regional. Day one Dickmann advanced forward
from his second place starting spot to first. Race two was a very wet affair and Dickmann kept his car pointed in the right direction to finish the
race where he started.
ArmsUp Motorsports will be in action for a third consecutive week this coming weekend when it's USF2000 Championship
Series squad takes to the Streets of Baltimore. Luigi Biangardi will be looking for his first podium of the season in the Championship class while
James Dayson will be searching for his first top-five in the National class.
