BYERS, Colorado – ArmsUp Motorsports driver Kirk Kindsfater made his second start of the 2010 season during the SCCA RMR National at the High
Plains Raceway. Racing in his home state of Colorado, Kindsfater scored and third in race one on the High Plains short course. Sunday’s race
two was run on the two and a half mile full course with Kindsfater taking the pole and a second place finish to close out the event with a double
podium.
The weekend started off with a Friday test session on the full course at the High Plains track. Kindsfater, who did a national last
year at High Plains, was up to speed straight away lapping faster than the previous year in the first session.
Qualifying for race one on
Saturday morning was a bit of a disappointment for the ArmsUp team as Kindsfater had an off early damaging the car to where it could not continue.
This relegated the Colorado driver to the back of the field on a High Plains circuit that is not easy to pass on. At the drop of the green flag
Kindsfater began to make his way through the lower classes to get toward the Formula Continental cars. As the race went on he was able to make steady
progress and with a few laps remaining moved into the third position of the FC field. Kindsfater held the third spot for the final couple laps to
score his first podium finish of the 2010 season.
Sunday started on a much more positive note for Kindsfater and ArmsUp Motorsports.
Kindsfater put his Orthopedic Center of the Rockies car on the pole for the second Formula Continental race of the weekend. Taking full advantage of
his pole position, Kindsfater jumped into the lead early on. As the race wore on Kindsfater made a slight error getting into the marbles. This
allowed the second place car enough of an opportunity to pass for the lead. For the rest of the race Kindsfater stalked the first place car but was
not able to retake the first position, coming home with a solid second place finish.
“This was a really good weekend for Kirk, he was
very strong behind the wheel of the car,” team owner Gregg Borland said after the weekend. “It was a lot of fun coming out to Colorado
for the first time with our team. They have a great track and it was good for Kirk to run close to home.”
ArmsUp Motorsports is now
